Seven Thousand Men | Devotional
“I have reserved for Myself seven thousand men who have not bowed the knee to Baal.”
–Romans 11: 1- 4 (NKJV)
“ I say then, has God cast away His people? Certainly not! For I also am an Israelite, of the seed of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin. 2. God has not cast away His people whom He foreknew. Or do you not know what the Scripture says of Elijah, how he pleads with God against Israel, saying, 3. ‘LORD, they have killed Your prophets and torn down Your altars, and I alone am left, and they seek my life’? 4. But what does the divine response say to him? ‘I have reserved for Myself seven thousand men who have not bowed the knee to Baal.’ 5. Even so then, at this present time there is a remnant according to the election of grace”. Rom 11:1 - 5
It seems that there are so many who would proclaim verse three over our country these days. With all the worldly indulgences and Godless media exposure, the removal of God’s commandments from public arenas, and the silent insertion of a false religion that enslaves. With the choosing of leaders because of personality and charm, and not their Godly principles or integrity of speech, where race is once again an issue because the issues of real concern cannot be change by any one man (except Jesus). As long as we look to man for our provision, our security, and new way of life, we will always have the worldly mentality of verse three (fear), but if we know, and believe that God has, and has had a plan from the beginning, we understand verse five (promise), and accept the remnant calling and will not bow our knee to this present day with its challenges and attitudes.
We hold fast to the truth of God’s Word, and His abilities to provide alone. We do not adopt the social mindsets of political or economical fears, racial scenarios, or opinions that create factions, rather we choose unity. The Body of Christ is comprised of many members, each member has its significance, and as the Body of Christ we ought to surrender our opinions, attitudes, past, present, and future for the cause of the Gospel “at this present time there is a remnant according to the election of grace.” What are we willing to let go of in order to be included in the remnant? What are we willing to hold on to that excludes us? Is there anything God cannot overcome? A remnant is usually a small part, member, or trace that remains. Is a remnant alive in you?
Phil 3:20 - 21 For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body that it may be conformed to His glorious body, according to the working by which He is able even to subdue all things to Himself.
